Discussion Point:

* why the Ice Bucket Challenge was so successful

(Source: Set 2.2 of Paper 4 of HKDSE 2017)

Case 1:

Student A: I think there are many reasons why the Ice Bucket Challenge was so successful. And one of the reasons is that the social media helped to promote the challenge. Nowadays people spend a lot of time on social media. So it was very easy for people around the world to see the videos of other people who took the challenge. And since this was a meaningful event, a lot of people took part in it. So I think the social media did help a lot to make the Ice Bucket Challenge successful. Do you agree?

Case 2:

Student A: I think the school can invite some professionals to give a talk on how to develop EQ. For example, the school can invite some lecturers from the universities to come to our school. They have a lot of professional knowledge in this aspect. I am sure students will benefit a lot from them. What do you think?

Case 3:

Student A: I think the school can invite some professionals to give a talk on how to develop EQ. If the school just ask some teachers to give a talk, they may not be so experienced and they may not have enough knowledge. If the school invite some professionals who have a lot of knowledge and experience about developing EQ, students can learn a lot of practical ways to develop their EQ. Do you agree?

Discussion Point:

* what problems students face which affect their emotions

(Source: Set 2.2 of Paper 4 of HKDSE 2017)

Case 1:

Student A: I think many students are facing different kinds of problems. And one of the problems that may affect their emotions is their family problems. Many families have a lot of problems such as the poor relationship between the parents and the children. If students cannot solve this kind of problems, they may feel frustrated and even feel angry. Case 2:

Student A: I think one of the problems that may affect students' emotions is their family problems. In many cases, these family problems cannot be solved easily . When students are involved in problems that seem impossible to be solved, they will have a lot of stress and may even become depressed. So family problems are very common problems that can affect students' emotions. What do you think?

Case 3:

Student A: I think family problems are one of the problems that may affect students' emotions. For example, students may be disturbed by  frequent arguments of their parents. They may even become the target of their parents who want to unleash their anger. Since students have no other places to go to, they are forced to face many family problems that they cannot solve. As a result, it is very easy for them to become emotional when they face different family problems. Do you agree?
